In preparation for the U19 World Cup taking place in New Zealand this year, the UCB hosted an U19 international triangular tournament during December. The tournament made use of 2 venues, King Edward VII School and our neightbours St John's. The participating nations were South Africa, India and Sri Lanka. Despite the unseasonable rain the tournament was hotly contested with the hosts eventually winning through to the final against India. Unfortunately the final was never played due to rain, and India were declared winners by virtue of their superior log position. SA u19 Team
King Edward VII School has a number of interesting links with the SA u19 Cricket team. Foremost Malcolm Nofal, a matric pupil in 2009 was selected for the team which will contest the u19 world cup this month. The team is coached by Ray Jennings, coach of the Bangalore Royal Challengers, who's son Keaton is 1st XI cricket captain and Head Prefect of the School. Also Ryan Cook the 1st XI Cricket coach was included in the SA coaching staff for this tournament to help him gain experience. SA u 19 coaching staff
